I have to start taking aspirin due to a recent cardiac event. I have a 5 day old son who I would like to continue breastfeeding. Is it safe to breastfeed while on aspirin?

Aspirin use while breastfeeding

tanzells,
Aspirin is rated an L2-limited data-probably compatible. The amount that transfers into breast milk is 2.5-10.8% of your dose. We recommend waiting 2-3 hours after a dose to breastfeed as virtually all aspirin transfer would be gone at that time. If your child has a known viral illness such as the chickenpox or flu wait 12-24 hours just to be cautious.
