  • Cisplatin and Breastfeeding

I am going to begin treatment for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, hpv p16 positive. Our treatment is 7 weeks of daily radiation along with 3-4 doses max of Cisplatin spread out over the 7 week period. I also just delivered a son, only a few days old.

I would love to continue breastfeeding and have been researching the half life of Cisplatin and the platinum levels found after treatment. Would it be possible for me to pump and dump in the week following chemo, then resume breastfeeding up to my next chemo round? There are not a lot of studies but I did find interesting information on LactMed. I would like to know what you would recommend for us.
    Thank you!
