ABVD (Adriamycin, Bleomycin, Vinblastine, Dacarbazine) for tx of lymphoma
Dear Elissa,
Breastfeeding while on ABVD is not recommended. These drugs, particularly Adriamycin and Vinblastine, are highly toxic. Further, studies show that some of these drugs are detectable in plasma for long periods and a minimum waiting period of 10 days is recommended before restarting to breastfeed. If the mom is receiving the drugs once a week it would not be feasible to do this.
