    Dear KellyO,

Transfer of dicloxacillin into human milk is minimal, and it is considered safe to use during breastfeeding. Adverse effects include diarrhea and candida diaper rash in the infant. The Relative Infant Dose is 0.6-1.4% of mother's dose.

I would speak to the infant's pediatrician about the probiotics as we can not recommend medications for the infant. I hope this is helpful. Have a nice day.

  • Dicloxicillin: safety and side effects to watch for in baby

Client prescribed to client after c/s wound not healing quickly enough. Was only told to watch for diahrrea in baby. Baby gaining well, poops are greenish and yellowish (after being yellow). Absolutely no concern for weight gain in baby and baby appears healthy and in no distress. Want to reassure her. Further, infant probiotics for baby to support his system?
