  • Extended Clindamycin Use

I have a recurring tooth infection/root canal issue that has been going on for the past 3 months. I have been on Clindamycin several times through that time period for 2-3 week periods at a time. Initially it did not respond to penicillin, so that's why the Clindamycin was used. The dentist is now busy until mid August and I still have an active infection that they want to continue treating with antibiotics until the procedure date (the infection is not going to be drained until mid August, so it will still be present until then). I know short term usage is approved, but is it advised to use for over a month straight (I've already been on it again for a week at the moment)? I am currently nursing a 12 month old and a 4 year old.
