  • Erythromycin

    Hi Dr. Hale,

I am currently breastfeeding my 16 week old and was just prescribed Erythromycin for mastitis due to a penicillin allergy. Is it safe to continue breastfeeding while on this antibiotic or should I discontinue?

    Thank you!

    Mommyto2:

Yes, its fine to breastfeed with erythromycin AFTER 16 weeks. The risk of pyloric stenosis is generally first few weeks postpartum.
