hgih dose methotrexate and breast feeding a 7wk old

Hi, I have a mom of a 7 week old in my practiced who needs to take high dose methotrexate for retained placental tissue after d&c and was wondering how long to pump and dump afterwards. She is to take twenty talets and then repeat twenty tablets (2.5mg each) 2 hours later. How long should she pump and dump?

Beth:

The half-life of methotrexate in adults ranges from 8-15 hours. I'd choose 5 times the 15 hour period, or 75 hours. Be sure she "discards" the milk.
