  • Doxyclycline 100MG

    Hello!
I need an advice. I have a serious problem with acne. The dermatologist recommends doxycycline 100 MG, but i'm breastfeeding. My baby is 18 months. Can I take this pills? Please, help!

    Karelinediaz:

You can use doxycycline but only briefly, not more than 3 weeks, and I doubt this will help you much. The risk is staining of the teeth in the infant. The enamel layer of the tooth is begun at 6 months postpartum, so at 18 months, there is significant risk of dental staining. I'd suggest something topical such as cleocin T, erythromycin topical, Metrogel, or one of the peroxide formulations. Ask your doctor about one of these.
