    Fentanyl is rated an L2-safer. The amount transferred into breast milk is 2.9-5% of your dose. In your situation since your infant is older and eating other foods the fentanyl patch is probably safe to use during breastfeeding because the levels in milk should be exceedingly low. There have been no reports of adverse effects in the breastfed infant. Monitor the infant for sedation, slowed breathing rate, pallor, apnea, constipation and appropriate weight gain.
