  • Phenazopyridine HCl

My Uro-Gyn suggested that I take a single dose of Azo (phenazopyridine hcl) for diagnostic purposes. If I take a single dose of the maximum strength (99.5mg), can I continue to breastfeed my 7 month old baby? Should I refrain from breastfeeding for a while? And if so, how long? Just trying to plan if I'll need some bottles pumped ahead of time.

Thank you! This is such a wonderful service to offer!

How long will I need to wait to breastfeed after taking the single dose?

7 hours should be more than enough time to eliminate any risk to your breastfed baby.
