  • Oxycodone and Norco

5 week old 9lb 5oz baby. I had surgery today and they gave me 5 or 10mg oxycodone PO at 11am pumped at 2pm (is this pump ok or do I dump?) also just pumped at 630pm is this pump ok? When is is ok to breastfeed? I will not be taking anymore oxycodone - so just the one dose this morning.

They prescribed me 5-325 norco. Am I able to take this while breastfeeding?

    Thank You

    Hi Kelsonsa,

The best indicator of whether the drug is in your milk is if you feel its effects. By now, you've cleared almost all of the drug from your body. The drug doesn't stay in the milk; it leaves as your body metabolizes the dose. We typically try to recommend staying below 30 mg per day of oxycodone, but still use your judgment first rather than this "limit."
