  • Post-hysterectomy pain regimen

I'm having a laparoscopic hysterectomy/salpingectomy and have been prescribed the following pain relief regimen from my surgeon:

    - 600 mg gabapentin every 8 hours for 5 days
    - 600 mg ibuprofen every 8 hours for 5 days
    - 5/325 mg oxycodone/acetaminophen 1-2 tablets every 6 hours *as needed* for breakthrough pain

Is this protocol compatible with nursing my 4 year old (approx 35 lbs at last checkup), 3-4 times a day for a few minutes at a time? Thanks in advance.

seb23: Sure, your infants age reduces the risk significantly. In addition, the volume of milk he/she gets is reduced as well.

    Should not be a problem.
