  • Wisdom tooth extraction

I am having a wisdom tooth removed on Tuesday morning. I am still breastfeeding my 8 month old so I was just wondering if theses medications are safe for breastfeeding.

    Midazolam
    Propofol
    dexamethasone
    fentanyl
    ketamine
    clindamycin

    Misslynn,

We recommend you wait about 4 hours or until you are fully awake after surgery to nurse with these medications. Monitor your infant for sedation. If you continue on the clindamycin for short term use after the surgery take it right after nursing and monitor your infant for vomiting, diarrhea, rash and thrush.
