What is your thought on the safety of short-term (1month or less) topical use of a compounded cream containing ketoprofen (couldn't find listing in MMM 2012) and L2 meds gabapentin, imipramine, lidocaine, metronidazole, & nifedipine by a mother breastfeeding a 5-month old? She has been prescribed this as a pre- and possibly post-surgical treatment of an anal fissure repair.

    kfree:

Sounds weird to me, using all these drugs in a cream. The standard of care now is nitroglycerine, Surgery, or maybe Botox. I can't really answer this as I know nothing really about the amounts used daily and how that compares to a normal dose. How much is actually absorbed in this preparation, etc, etc.

I'm sorry, I would not recommend this compounded product.
