  • Medication and donor breastmilk

The lactation risk category that we use for medication, is used when a mother is breastfeeding her own infant. Which category should be acceptable for a mother to donate breastmilk?
Eglynol (sulpiride) is used frequently in South Africa as a galactogogue as well as for post natal depression treatment, it is a L2, should moms be allowed to donate breastmilk when using this medication?

    Dani Kuun,

I spoke with Dr Hale about this matter he advised this medication would not be a good choice for donor milk because of the possible side effects associated with this type of medication.
