  • Dietary Supplements and Breastfeeding

I started taking Green Coffee bean extract, Garcinia Cambogia, and a Tumeric supplement for about a week after deciding I wasn't going to breastfeed after my baby was born, But I've had a change of heart and I want to breastfeed while I still have a milk supply. I want to know how long should I wait after stopping these supplements to safely breastfeed my baby.

    Tinikarae,

Since you only took these supplements for a week I think waiting 12-24 hours is probably ok. We do not know the half-lives of most herbs, but the caffeine in the green coffee bean extract in adults has a half-life of 4.9 hours and 97.5 hours in neonates so limit caffeine from any source to 150-200mg a day or less.
