  • Lamitical and breastfeeding

My daughter is 9 months old and I want to start taking my medication. I’ve really been struggling. I am bipolar 2 and have generalized anxiety disorder. I have prescribed Lamictal 50 mg and Prozac 20 to restart on a tiered dosage since I have been off my meds for so long. My daughter is exclusively breastfeed but also is eating solids and loves food. She does BLW. Would this ok for her?

Both of these drugs are quite safe "at this dose". I doubt at 9 months your infant will even notice them. IF the dose accelerates too much higher, then then risk is grows. But these doses are really quite small and you could double or triple them before any risk increases. If you see a 'rash' in your infant, talk to your pediatrician. Lamictal rarely causes a rash that requires discontinuation.
