Realizing this is not a medication, do you have any information for a mom who is breastfeeding and is exposed to benzene in her work. Many thanks.

We unfortunately we do not have any data on benzene. In the past Dr Hale has advised us that for occupational exposures to chemicals that as long as the mother wears all recommended protective wear required by OSHA that if the ventilation and air conditioner units are working properly that it is probably a low risk. We do recommend that mom takes a shower and washes her hair prior to holding the baby because the dust particles could be on her clothing, skin or hair. If mom has an acute exposure such as some kind of leak or breakdown of ventilation units or whatever reason and she has any symptoms such as a headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting etc., mom should wait until all symptoms subside before nursing her infant again.
