I really want to do at my kidney to my father who is in kidney failure. I want to know if it's safe after the transplant for me to breastfeed my son. I know there are some medications that I would be taking afterwards. I want to make sure it's ok before testing to make sure I'm a match.

Pjdunn18,
Most medications are safe after surgery after a short wait time (usually about 4 hours) provided you are fully awake and your infant does not have a history of apnea. As far as for the post op pain it will depend on which medication they use and the dose on how long we would recommend for you to wait after taking the medication to breastfeed your infant. Please call the InfantRisk Center when you get a list of the medications they may use and we will be glad to discuss them with you.
