  • High dose of Delzicol

Mom is 43yo with 23 day old twins born at 35.5 weeks. She takes 1600mg Delzicol TID and Mercatopurine 50 mg daily.

Any concerns with these meds, dose with these young babies?

    Hi, thanks for your post.

Mesalamine and mercaptopurine are both fairly safe drugs to use in breastfeeding mothers. Your patient is on a high dose of the Delzicol, so watch out for watery diarrhea in the baby.

Please call us at the InfantRisk Center if this has not completely answered your question.*(806)352-2519
