I am wondering if .5mg once a day of Risperedone/risperdal is safe for use during pregnancy.

    Slizjohnson,

Risperidone (risperdal) is rated P-3-unknown risk to fetus cannot be ruled out. Multiple studies have also shown that the use of this drug during pregnancy does not appear to increase the risk of congenital malformations above baseline. Data shows that the drug has incomplete passage through the placenta. Use only if the benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus. Remember that 1-3% of all pregnancies can result in a birth defect due to chance alone.

    I hope this helps.
