  • Siduol for treating hemorrhoids

A mother takes Siduol (which contains tocopherol calcium succinate, lysozyme chloride, vitamin K1 (phytonadione), rutin, and pluronic F-68) for treating hemorrhoids. Can she breastfeed her infant?
    Thank you very much.

    LC:

Siduol is an oral capsule containing the following :

Tocopherol acetate with is vitamin E. It is a natural tocopherol and one of the most potent antioxidant tocopherols. It exhibits antioxidant activity.

Lysozyme: Lysozyme, is an antimicrobial enzyme produced by humans that forms part of the innate immune system. Lysozyme is a glycoside hydrolase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of various linkages in gram positive which in turn compromises the integrity of bacterial cell walls causing lysis of the bacteria. Lysozyme is abundant in secretions including tears, saliva, human milk, and mucus.

Rutin is a plant pigment found in fruits and vegetables. Rutin is most commonly used to treat swelling of tissues, which is the aim for using it in hemorrhoidal preparations.

Pluronic F-68 is a new skin wound cleanser that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in humans. It is suggested to reduce infections in wounds and removed debris, and is commonly used in wound healing preparations.

I don't see any real contraindication in its use in breastfeeding mothers, but we have no published data on its use.
