  • Vitamin D2

    Good evening,

I've been prescribed 50,000 IU's of Vitamin D2 due to low levels and I have a 6 1/2 month old exclusively breastfed baby. Are there any concerns or risks, even minor?

    Thank you in advance.

    MNicole:

Yes, I'm getting ready to publish a case report of overt toxicity in a breastfeeding mother and her infant following a daily dose of 30,000 units of D3.

You didn't state clearly if your dose was DAILY or WEEKLY. Big difference. Weekly is probably ok, but I'd check your infant's vitamin D levels check periodically.
