  • Combined Peploc 40 mg and Cemetadine 400 mg

Hi. I am currently still breastfeeding my 4 year old daughter.

I have had a scope and some blood work done and I need to take two medications at the same time -
Cemetadine 400 mg in the morning plus Peploc 40 mg in the evening.

Apparently the medications work in different ways to block acid. Different acid paths. Which is why I need both.

Is this safe or too much for my nursing daughter to handle? Another option which I thought if is to alternate the meds. Cemetadine the one day and Peploc the following day. Alternating.

    Thank you so much.

There is no reason you can't take both. Both are H2 receptor blockers which work primarily in the stomach to reduce acid.

There is no contraindication to using them while breastfeeding.

      Dear Dr Hale

Thank you so much for your reply to my above post.

Is there any period of time for which I am limited to using the two meds combined for? I read in your book something about only using Cemetidine for a few days.

But perhaps becuase in my case I am nursing a 4 year old it is ok to use the two meds for a longer period of time?

      Thanks again.

        Nikita:

I don't know much about why you're taking the cimetidine. It's seldom used anymore for gastric hyperacidity. This is something you'll have to take up with your physician.
