  • Amoxicillin and breastfeeding

    Hello,
My 11 month old is currently taking amoxicillin for a sinus infection. I (the mother) have just been prescribed amoxicillin for an ear infection. I only breastfeed three times a day, and give her formula the rest of the time. Will she be getting too much of the medicine if I continue to breastfeed her while both of us are on amoxicillin? Thank you.

    Alyson:

No, the amount of amoxicillin in breastmilk is negligible. It should be OK to go ahead and breastfeed while taking the amoxicillin yourself.
