I have not been able to find info on an herbal preparation Shatavari that a pat wants to take. Does anyone have any info on this?

    Dear meliyet,

Natural Standard website gives the following information on Shatavari (Asparagus officinalis): Shatavari is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to lack of sufficient data. Also, the Food and Drug Administration does not evaluate herbal products. Dr. Hale rates herbal medications, in general, as L4 due to the lack of scientific evidence of their safety. Dr. Hale recommends mothers consult an authority in herbal products before ingesting these drugs while pregnant or breastfeeding. Hope this information helps.

    Sincerely,
