  • Amitriptlyne and Another Medication?

I am suffering from PPD and PPA. I am 6 months postpartum and breastfeed.

Before becoming pregnant I used 25mg amitriptlyne for bad insomnia. I have started back on that to help with the sleep.

I visited my doctor at 5 months postpartum to get help with the PPD and PPA and I was prescribed 25mg Zoloft. It helped the symptoms significantly in the three weeks I took it, but the insomnia was unbearable. I was told I couldn't take amitriptlyne with the Zoloft and the Zoloft itself caused really bad insomnia.

I am working with my doctor right now, but it's been slow getting answers. I am wondering if there are any suggestions for a medication that:
    1. Can be taken while breastfeeding
    2. Is compatible with Elavil OR isn't as likely to cause insomnia.

    Thank you!
