  • Saftey studies - paed unhappy

Hi. My paed frowns upon me for breastfeeding my 18 month old while taking Escitalopram ( Zytomil) because he says that not many studies have been done in this regard. Is this true? He says what if it causes ADHD or Autism? Thanks

    Nikita:

Sorry, but this is not true. There are numerous studies, all showing few if any side effects. Further, treating depression in pregnancy reduces all kinds of other maternal risks, such as prematurity, etc.
