My wife was just released from the hospital after being treated for a bacterial infection and she was prescribed 1 (one) 500 mg tablet of Flagyl (metronidazole) three times a day. We have a 4 month old who has a great breastfeeding relationship with mama and would like to know if we can continue to breast feed him or should we pump and dump for 2 weeks while taking the medication. The pharmacist says absolutely pump and dump but the Lactation consultant at the hospital says feel free to breast feed while taking the meds. Some clarification would be nice does anyone have any advice for us? Thank you in advance!!
