  • Levaquin 750mg for 26 days

I was diagnosed with a blood infection following my c section and will be on a course of Levaquin 750mg for 26 days. Is it still safe to breast feed on this? I take it right after a previous feeding and wait 4hrs to pump afterwards.

    Dsalt:

About 17% of the dose of levofloxacin gets into milk. This is a significant amount. While exposure to this for a few days is not a problem, using it for 26 days while breastfeeding could be detrimental to your infant's bone and tendons.

I would not suggest you breastfeed with this drug for this long.

Be sure you understand the adult bone and tendon complications of this drug. Tendon ruptures are common.
