my baby is 1 year and a month old

i had an unfortunate experience and may have been exposed to hiv. So I’m taking this medication. My first hiv test came back negative. But I still want to finish the medication. The doctor told me to pump and dump. Do I have too? My. Baby misses his milkies. But I understand if he can’t have them.

    Sarah:

We unfortunately don't have any data on the use of these drugs in breastfeeding mothers. At 1 year postpartum, you have to decide if continued breastfeeding is worth the risk of transmitting HIV to your infant and worth the risk of exposing your infant to these drugs. While the risk at this time is rather low, we still don't know anything about these drugs.

So you'll have to make this decision.
