  • 600 mgs fluconazole with newborn

Mom has been dx'd with Valley Fever. Prescribed tx is 6 weeks of fluconazole at 600 mgs daily. I am guessing breastfeeding is not recommended for exclusively breastfed baby?

    stacie.bing,

I discussed this with Dr Hale and he stated that fluconazole at such high doses for long periods of time can be hepatotoxic, so we would not recommend this mom breastfeed during her treatment.
