  • Breastfeeding & epinephrine

I am getting a basal cell carcinoma spot removed from my back tomorrow and the dermatologist wants to use a injectable numbing medicine that has EPI in it. Last time when I was breastfeeding, I opted for the numbing meds with no EPI, but he says for the size of this one, the EPI is necessary to slow bleeding. My question is - is EPI safe to use for this procedure while breastfeeding?

Hello--the epi isn't a problem at all. Epinephrine is a hormone your body naturally produces...they use it to decrease bleeding, and if they are using numbing agents, it will help them last longer.
