  • Vyvanse and Pumping - 3.5 Month Old

    Hello -

Is it recommended to pump and dump after taking Vyvanse 70mg? Additionally, if I titrate the drug in some water (which I've done in the past - pre-pregnancy - to lower the dose if I don't need a full dose in a day) is the drug out of my system quicker? I have not taken any meds since I founds out I was pregnant, but started back to work and will need at least a small dose. My daughter is currently exclusively breast fed either through nursing or pumped bottles at daycare. I don't want my supply to suffer by not pumping, and also hate to waste milk unnecessarily. Any recommendations or new research on this drug?

    Thank you!

    lbluth,

Vyvanse is rated an L3-limited data-probably compatible. The amount that transfers into breast milk is 1.8-6.2% of your dose. We recommend keeping the dose low at 20-30mg a day, avoiding the peak time of 3.5 hours, the half-life is about 7 hours. Monitor your infant for agitation, irritability, poor sleeping patterns, poor weight gain.
