I called the call center but could not get through, why?

If you call the InfantRisk Center hotline and do not receive a response, please try again. We respond to a large volume of calls each day, and are not able to answer each and every call right away.

Can I trust the information given to me?

The call center is staffed by retired registered nurses who consult with Dr. Thomas Hale, a leading authority on medications in breastfeeding and pregnancy, with over 25 years of research, studies, and experience with medications in pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. In addition, the InfantRisk Center has the most up-to-date information from Dr. Hale's Medications and Mothers' Milk reference.

What information should I have available when I call?

To accurately and more easily relay the correct information to you, please have available the name of the medication or it's ingredients, the dosage, and basic information about yourself and your baby.

Is the InfantRisk Center doing any research studies?

Yes. Dr. Hale is presently designing upwards of ten drug studies in breastfeeding mothers.

How do I know which studies are available and active?

Visit the research section from the main menu, or Click Here to see the available studies.

How do I volunteer for a study?

To volunteer for a study, click the study name from our research section and then click the link at the bottom of the page. You will be taken to a separate site to register and will be contacted by Dr. Hale or one of his associates here at the InfantRisk Center.

What do I have to do when I volunteer?

After contacting you for your information, a packet will be mailed to you, at no cost to you. You simply need to follow the instructions in the packet and mail it back using the provided shipping materials.
