  • Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream for skin rash

I was prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide cream 0.1% for skin rash. I’m in the 2nd trimester (26 weeks). Is this safe during pregnancy? Also, are there any safe OTC medicine for skin rash/itchiness?
    Thank you.

    Str51:

Prolonged use of steroids may lead to some absorption. If its a large area, like an arm, or large back/front area, then I'd suggest some caution, as steroids are loosely related to cleft lip. But this exposure is so small I really doubt your fetus will have a problem. Best bet is to try small amounts of it the triamcinolone mixed with an oily lotion. Skin rashes are often due to dry skin. The oily lotion may work as good as the triamcinolone cream.
