  • Taking Letrozole when wife is pregnant. Can the drug be passed through a man's semen?

Hi. I'm a man and I'm taking 2.5mg of Letrozole a day. I've read that Letrozole is linked to birth defects. My wife is currently pregnant, and I don't know if unprotected sex should be avoided due to the fact that I am taking letrozole, as I don't know if the drug can be passed through a man's semen to his partner. Do you have any advice regarding this? Thanks.

Well it seems that Letrozole is actually used for fertility problems in males. Thus the amount of letrozole in semen must be quite low. However, as to wether it is safe for a male to use with a pregnant woman is not clear, and I simply can't find the answer to this. I would suggest some caution in the woman. But I doubt there is enough letrozole in semen to produced teratology in a fetus.
