  • Ceftriaxone (Rocephin)

    Hello.
At eight weeks I was treated for a UTI with a Rocephin injection. I had a bacterial infection that was resistant to macrobid. I am extremely worried about autism. I read that bacterial infections may be a cause for autism and antibiotic use also increases the risk for autism when treating any bacterial infection. I want to know if I am at risk for autism being that I had this injection of Rocephin.

I think the suggested risk of autism is pure garbage. If this were true, half of American infants would be autistic. Its basically used in all infants treated for severe life threatening infections in hospitals around the world, every minute of every day. Almost every case of meningitis in infants and adults is treated with this wonderful cephalosporin.

I don't think you should worry about this at all.
