I just found out I am pregnant I should be no more than 4 weeks along. But I've been taking Percocet/Oxycodone and Hydrocodones recreational for the past couple of months and I am worried about getting off by stopping cold turkey. How will it affect the fetus so early on and would they detect anything when baby is born from this early on in umbilical blood or regular blood drawn and how long will it take for my system to clean of everything?!!! Please help me! Thank you

These drugs have few effects on the young fetus other than addiction. If used daily the fetus will become dependent and suffer withdrawal.

if you are using daily I’d suggest you start to taper off your dose over several weeks and talk with your Obstetrician about your situation.

if you don’t stop, your infant will be drug screen positive at birth and will require treatment for addiction.
