1200 mg Lecithin QID is often suggested to moms with recurrent blocked ducts and or blebs. Can you explain how it works? And comment on it's safety in breastfeeding moms.

No one really knows if it works at all. I personally don't understand HOW it could work. Phospholipids are almost completely metabolized in the gut, and re-synthesized in the enterocytes with free fatty acids attached, to make triglycerides.

How any phospholipid gets by the intestine and ends up in the ductal system of breastfeeding mothers, is new a new one to me. You'll have to check, but I'm not certain there is any really good research data that supports its use for plugged ducts. Its mostly anectdotal.

As for safety, sure, its just a normal component in most living organisms and it should be very safe.
