  • Methylfolate

    Hi

I know that its risky to take any vitamins whilst breastfeeding other than prenatal vitamins, but I have recently had blood work done and my folic acid levels are extremely low and need to be supplemented.

I am currently nursing my three and a half year old infant.

I have been reccomended Methyl Care by Metagenics.

    Nikita:

Talk with your physician, but really low folic acid levels may require folic acid doses of up to 5 mg/day. Some drugs suppress folic acid levels (anticonvulsants). For these doses, you'll need a doctors prescription.

The ingredients per two capsules are as follows: ( I would take two capsules per day):

      Riboflavin 1.6 mg

Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxine HCL) 25 mg

      Folate (as L - 5 Methyltetrahydrofolate ) 800mcg

Vitamin B12 (as Methylcobalamin) 1000 mcg

      Zinc 1.5 mg

      Manganese 0.4 mg

Molybdenum ( as Molybdenum Glycinate ) 15 mcg

      N - Acetyl- L- Cysteine 600 mg

      Betaine HCL 500 mg

If I cant take this please advise what dosage of plain L Methylfolate I can take safely.

      Thank you
