I have a patient that has been prescribed the topical steroid alclometasone for severe eczema. Her healthy full term infant was born mid-April and is exclusively breastfed. I have searched the forums, my mobile app and the book and did not find any information. Any information on this medication's compatibility with breastfeeding would be appreciated. Thank you.

Alcometasone is just another topical steroid that is considered Low Potency. Less than 3% is absorbed from the skin. Assuming that the amount placed on the skin is really quite low, this exposure is far too low to have any effect on an infant. Its probably quite compatible with breastfeeding. However, it should not be used on the nipple, or the absorption in the infant could be quite high.
