  • Insomnia Medications

    Hello,

I've been struggling with insomnia and am currently breastfeeding a 4-month old. My provider suggested Unisom (doxylamine succinate) which I have been taking for several weeks, usually at half dose (12.5 mg) but sometimes full dose (25 mg). However, recently it has stopped working and I am having to consider other medications. Could you please let me know about the safety to a breastfed infant of the following:

-Unisom (doxylamine succinate) at either 12.5 or 25 mg doses
    -Magnesium glycinate at any dose
    -Zolpidem 5 mg

If I take Zolpidem, should I "pump and dump" and if so, after what period? Do you have other recommendations for insomnia?

    Thank you.
