  • Interstitial cystitis

    Hello.

I am looking for information on medications/supplements for interstitial cystitis. My urologist recommended quercetin and aloe vera capsules.

Another treatment is bladder instillations, where medication is placed directly into the bladder through a catheter. The medications would be heparin, lidocaine or bupivacaine, and dexamethasone. Would this pose any issues for breastfeeding?

    Thank you for your time.

    Natalie.elinor,

As far as the quercetin and aloe vera capsules we do not recommend on herbal products as they have not been studied and are not FDA regulated.

The bladder instillation treatments should probably be ok, these medications will stay mainly in the bladder with minimal systemic absorption.
