  • Lugol's and breastfeeding

    Hello,

I have Graves' Disease and will be getting a thyroidectomy. In preparation for surgery I will need to take Lugol's 2% solution 5 drops BID for 10 days. My son will be 5.5 months at the time I will start the Lugol's. The OB has said I will need to pump and dump while taking the Lugol's, but they do not know how long after taking the solution I can resume breastfeeding again. Do you have any guidance on how to proceed?

    Thank you!

This is a great question that we are working on finding an answer to. Please call the InfantRisk Center to talk with someone on the team.
