    Happy new year!
I'm looking for some information about methylsulfonylmetane during breastfeeding. It's safe? Thankyou

    Paola,

"Methylsulfonylmethane (DMSO2, MSM, "Crystalline DMSO") is the normal oxidation product of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and is purportedly used for osteoarthritis and joint inflammations. Its efficacy is questionable. No data are available on methylsufonylmethane, but it is probably distributed and eliminated the same as dimethylsulfoxide. While DMSO is relatively nontoxic, it penetrates to many compartments and it would probably penetrate into milk in significant quantities. Due to the high plasma levels reported, it is probable that milk levels would be quite high as well. Although the overall toxicity of this compound is quite minimal, exposing an infant to this agent, which is minimally efficacious, is probably not justified." (Medications and Mothers' Milk database, Dr Thomas Hale PhD).
