  • Arsenic

I just ate about three servings of a food which I learned contains brown rice syrup. I am concerned that it may have high levels of arsenic. How much arsenic could potentially pass to my baby? Is it safe to continue breastfeeding, or do I need to pump and dump for a short time? Thank you!

    Dear Mom_of_3,

The main concern with arsenic is long term exposure. If you ate these foods once, the risk is minimal to none. I spoke with Dr. Hale, and he would recommend to stay away from these foods on a daily basis while breastfeeding.
