  • Vyvanse and Mixing Milk

My daughter is 7 months old and I have been exclusively pumping. She has about 6 or 7 bottles a day and has been eating solids 3x per day. I have just resumed my ADHD medication (40 mg of Vyvanse) but I’m unsure how to go about it in the safest way.

Right now I pump in the morning before I take my medication. I have been continuing to pump throughout the day and keeping it separate. I give her frozen milk instead of what I pump during the day. I resume feeding her my pumped milk after 12 hours have passed.

My freezer supply is quickly dwindling with this practice, and I am wondering if it would be safe to mix the milk I pump while on my medication with milk from my freezer stash to lower the concentration of the medication. Alternatively I could dump it, and use formula instead but I would like her to have all the benefits of breastmilk for as long as possible.

Sorry about the delayed response. We have been stretched thin! You could mix half of the non-medicated milk with the medicated milk and monitor for agitation and poor feeding. If your daughter shows any side effects, you could dilute further as needed.
