  • Aflibercept and Breastfeeding

I have a nearly 1 year old son and have been prescribed Eylea for intravitreal injection once a month for 3 months for choroidal neovascularisation (CNV). How important is it to stop breastfeeding with this preparation? At the moment I breastfeed around 5 times a day.

    annuca:

Aflibercept is a large molecular weight protein that is injected in the eye. Little or none will ever escape the eye, and the dose is far far too low to impact an infant. You don't have to discontinue breastfeeding at all.
