    Dear salexa04,

Obestrim contains several herbal medications. In the Natural Standard database, there does not appear to be enough scientific evidence to say these herbal preparations are safe for breastfeeding. One of the ingredients, konjac root, states that it interferes with vitamin absorption. Herbal medications also are not evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. We do not recommend these products during breastfeeding. You may want to consult a nutritionist to help you with an age appropriate diet and exercise regimen or talk with your physician about other recommendations for safe weight loss management.

    Sincerely,
    Cindy Pride, MSN, CPNP

    Obestrim question

Hello, I am breastfeeding my 2 year old daughter. I am now trying to lose weight ( per my doctors orders). He was going to prescribe phentermine but I refused because I was breastfeeding. I started reading about Obestrim and was wondering if it would be safe to take. My daughter nurses 2-3 times per day and around 2 times in the MOTN.

    Thank you
